What is the story?
felspar was created in 2024. The idea was born in Iceland, surrounded by the most extreme forces of nature. Experiencing how architecture and nature can bond, and the results of that are life changing. Sitting in a small bistro on the campus of University of Iceland. eating lunch with a friend who is an Icelandic architect, in the only Alvar Aalto building in Iceland (The Nordic House), felspar was born. The rest unfolded much like the volcanic activity around me. It just erupted and wouldn’t be stopped by anything.
We all have a story to tell, felspar and Jason Dail AIA are no different, but at the same time completely different. Jason wanted to create an architecture practice that places the people that his work will impact, first and foremost in the design process.
How much experience?
Jason worked in some of the triangle’s premier architecture studios prior to founding felspar. Jason began his career under the wing of infamous landscape architect, Richard C. Bell FASLA. Together with Richard Bell, Jason helped create some of the most engaging landscapes and masterplans for many of North Carolina’s top universities. Jason then moved to Canon Architects where he was exposed to private and state level work, from residential to large university renovations of historic academic buildings. Jason would go on to work at several other firms each larger than the last. Each time the projects grew larger and larger, until projects became as much about city planning as the architecture itself. Jason wanted to get back to the time when he would sit down with clients and talk about their dreams rather than committees discussing returns on investments. felspar was created and now we bring all this experience to you.
